I use my instant pot all the time and was hoping this would give me some new family favorite keto meals. I am underwhelmed by the directions and ingredients on some of the recipes, it seems as if someone who doesn’t use and understand the instant pot wrote them.Firstly, there are several that are multi step requiring finishing in the oven, or just fussy and unnecessary for the instant pot. Just because you CAN do something in the IP doesn’t mean you SHOULD or that it’s the best way to do it.One recipe that is ridiculous and obvious that it wasn’t tested or well understood is the Chicken Fajita Bowl. This recipe calls for no less than two entire cups of broth in addition to a cup of salsa, along with boneless skinless chicken breast. What this gives you is a giant pot of soupy chicken breast that is vaguely salsa flavored. It’s nothing at all like the recipe photo, and the recipe photo is not possible with those ingredients. That amount of broth, or any amount of broth, is way too much for this type of recipe that’s intended to be a saucy shredded meat at the end, instead of the pot of soup that it yields. Additionally, it’s practically a fat free recipe and very high protein, hardly keto. There are a few others very similarly written.And that leads me to my final criticism, which is the little keto meter is missing from this book. I really appreciate that feature for the recipes in her other two books that I own so I can know when I am making something more or less extra high I fats. This book is conspicuously missing that feature, and I think the reason why is that many of the recipes are void of any significant amount of fat.I’m not saying it’s all bad, there are some promising looking recipes and a few new tricks I might appreciate, but overall I don’t think it delivers what it promises.

Let me preface this with the fact that I own every single cook book that Maria Emmerich has put out. I have found the majority of them to be helpful. This cookbook seems to be more of the same that Maria has put out in previous years. When I say "more of the same" I mean that many of the recipes are for the same dishes that you can find in other cookbooks from Maria. I also mean that She needs to fire her editor! All of her cookbooks have errors in them. From missing cooking times, to missing instructions. I assume that this is to be expected in some regards. Nobody can find all the errors in a book in my humble opinion, but take the two pictures that I have included with this review. One is missing the name of the recipe and the other references a page number that doesn't exist. Had these two discrepancies been unique to Maria's book I would call it an "oops", but this book has many errors in it. I'm beginning to think that Maria is no longer trying the recipes she is putting her name on and instead is just giving her approval "sight unseen". Needless to say I will no longer be purchasing cookbooks by Maria Emmerich. As I previously stated her cookbooks are helpful, all of them, including this one. But I can only have so many cookbooks with a recipe for the same meatballs and I can only spend so much time reading and re-reading a recipe to make sure there isn't any "gotchas" in it. For example, I made the lemon ricotta torte that can be found on page 286 tonight. The recipe states that it requires 30 minutes (for the cake only) of cook time. I finally gave up on the cake being done after cooking the cake for an additional 10 minutes 3 times in a row (so total cook time was 65 minutes). Maybe I did something wrong, I'm not a professional, but evidently, neither is Maria's editor. I have rambled enough......purchase at your own risk.

Really liked this until I actually attempted some recipes - then quickly realized it's a pretty picture book with instructions that don't actually work. For instance: put 1/4 cup of cream in a blender with garlic and puree. Such a little amount doesn't even move the liquid (hell, an immersion blender needs a cup just bigger than the stick to be able to make it work with such a small amount)... So far this book is full of little steps like this that make you have to use alternate methods. Also, some recipes are designed with a 4 qt cooker, while some are for a 6 qt. Do you seriously think people have more than one size instant pot?? Seriously disappointed.

A lot of the five star reviews for this book are from her dedicated followers and subscribers from long before this cookbook was released so please take that into consideration when reading them! This book has multiple errors, at least 32 nutrient amount errors, and the cooking methods are questionable for the IP. Each of he 3 recipes I have made have needed to have work arounds in order to get them to work enough to be edible. If I were not an experienced Instant Pot cook, I wouldn’t have known this! All in all, her other cookbooks may be fantastic but, so far this one is far from it. I’m very surprised she would’ve published it bc The recipes I’ve tried do not work as written.

Pros: I LOVE Maria’s book and have almost all of them! They are beautifully illustrated and give great variety for this WOE. This one inparticular also gives a great instruction portion to using instant type pots and slow cookers, which would be helpful for anyone just getting started with those kitchen tools.Maria has clearly put in the work to knowing how the body should function and it shows in her recipes. I am so glad to have her as a resource and between her blog, FB groups and Books I feel like I can accomplish any goal I set for my nutrition!Cons:It seems like this book has TONS of errors. The nutrition information is important to double check considering we all use different brands and it will naturally vary. If you track very closely I would advise to cross check your macros to make sure you are correct before you sabotage your day! A recipe is missing the title, I know it’s a small thing but text errors get me crazy personally.It also seems like there are several recipes that are already in other books, just put in here for the application of using the instant pot. So I felt like it’s not really getting a book of “ALL NEW” recipes, but a mix of new with older recipes that maybe were tweeked a bit or improved.
