I love this entire series...Rick Riordan wrote a great trilogy bringing Ancient Egypt into modern times. As a parent, what I like the best about this series is that my kids learned Egyptian history and mythology without realizing it...sort of like slipping a vitamin into mashed potatoes. The kids ate it up and learned something at the same time. I took my kids to the Field Museum in Chicago shortly after my oldest read this series, and I was amazed at how much she knew...she saw statues and could immediately identify them and tell the basic story about them just because of this series.

It's a continuation of the Red Pyramid Series. It's good for ages 10-15, boys and girls. The easy, language is not too challenging except for the foreign names. It provides background for Egyptian mythology and doesn't confuse other civilization's mythology into the book. It continues Riordan's good but not overbearing humor. It's not a comedy book. The main female protagonist is strong, snarky and loyal. There is a brainy, hopeful male character who balances her. The plot is different from the first two books, nor was it a logical step from the rest of the series. The first half tried to pull together plot points that the previous books had left unfinished, without the strong narrative that the first two did so well. The second half of the book seemed less polished, in that some places they visited were too unexplained, but then others were delved into too deeply. The ending was overly dramatic and didn't need to be. Like some of his other books, he ends up losing sight of the main goal, because he brings in too many unresolved plot threads from the previous books. It would be good for a gift if the whole series accompanied it.

Apophis is rising and chaos is about to destroy the world. And only Carter and Sadie Kane can stop him. But the only ones left to stand with them are the young magicians of Brooklyn House as their allies are being attacked, the House of Life is divided and on the brink of the civil war, and the gods themselves stand apart. To put an end to Apophis they need to find a spell that has been lost for a millennia and the only one that can lead them to it is the ghost of a deadly magician. Can Carter and Sadie do the impossible one last time? Or will the world fall into chaos?In this third and final book in the Kane trilogy, Riordan once again weaves his magic to create an epic battle and a memorable story. Riordan weaves a tale that will keep the reader on the edge of the seat through the twists and turns that are created, wondering and hoping that all of our heroes survive to do battle one more time. There's plenty of humor, some romance, the return of old friends, and lots of fun twists in this tale. And possibly a hint or two of future adventures to come. It's an epic read and I highly recommend it.

The Serpent’s Shadow brings the Kane Chronicles to an end as the third (and “probably”) final recording of Sadie and Carter. Just like the previous two novels, this one has a great hook:“Sadie Kane here.If you’re listening to this, congratulations! You survived Doomsday.I’d like to apologize straightaway for any inconvenience the end of the world may have caused you. The earthquakes, rebellions, riots, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and of course the giant snake who swallowed the sun — I’m afraid most of that was our fault.”So there you have it: Apophis swallowed the sun! That’s one burning question down, and a whole lot of others to go — like, how did they survive Doomsday if the snake got away with his plan? Well, I guess that’s when you need to read and find out.However, I did have some other very serious questions at the end of The Throne of Fire:Are they making the right decision? Despite Ra being a crazy old guy who played with cookies, he was rather needed.Is this a trap? Everything’s a trap! You need to go with it anyway.Why would anyone try to ride a double-headed snake? Clearly this earned Carter some serious street cred. It was totally necessary.What’s with the zebras and the weasels? Well, Zebras are clearly awesome and Ra’s very favorite… and Weasels are sick… though not beyond salvation.Who’d make a better boyfriend, Walt or Anubis? The answer is… YES.So many things go wrong as Doomsday approaches — go figure. Sadie and Carter, along with Walter and Zia, the Brooklyn House, and any stragglers… er, supporters, of the First Nome, must fight the greatest threat to human kind. What could possibly go wrong? … Well, they survive to tell the tale, so clearly a few things go right.The Serpent’s Shadow is driven not only by the impending deadline of the end of the world — as Sadie and Carter search for a way to defeat Apophis and vanquish him– but also by the characters’ interactions, hilarious events (just imagine a kindergartener running around with crayons, screaming “Die!  This is a new Fantasy/Fairy Tale theme coloring book by Jade Summer. This is a coloring book of 40 different designs (note there are no duplicates included as in previous Jade Summer coloring books.)These designs detailed and some have intricate and small areas to color. The theme of fantasy is stretched to include fairy tales as well. There are mermaids, witches, wizards, fairies, dragons, castles, princes and princesses and many more.While you can have access to .PDFs when you purchase this book, my review is based on the book as it is received from Amazon. That way you will know what the pages look like and how they accept color. I like that the publisher provides the digital version as well so you can choose the paper you wish to use and/or to color the pictures as many times as you choose.This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium:40 Different Fantasy/Fairy Tale inspired designs.Paper is typical of CreateSpace: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated. The back of the page is printed black.The designs do not merge into the binding. There is a heavy framing line at the outer edges of the design to give the project a more finished look, especially for framing. There is a slight shadowing effect to the framing line which gives the image an almost 3D effect.Glue Binding (there is room to cut the pages out if you choose to do so.)Though you cannot see the bleed-through easily due to the back of the page being printed in black, I recommend the use of a blotter page when working in this book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work well with this paper. I found that I could layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. I also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.

I want to rave about this book! This vendor clearly cares about the quality and service of her product. So much so, that she offers free printable access to EVERY PAGE of her books. Each book comes with a code to her website so if you want to recolor an image or share with a room full of little girls who all want the same one< NO PROBLEM! Log on and use the code and print as many as you like. There were some personalizations in this book that really took it to a new level. You can tell the maker cares about their product and that sense of pride will have us back for another purchase.

This coloring book is gorgeous! The pages are good quality and there is a great variety of pictures. I will buy more coloring books from Jade Summer in the future!

I really love the selection of pictures. Really nice size --not so small I have to get the magnifying glass out. And also love that the pictures are only on one side!!

I bought the three-pack of these coloring books, all designed by the same company/artist. They're just beautiful. These are the first adult coloring books I've bought, after buying one for my special needs brother, so he has something to do besides watch TV during his free time. He loves his, and I love mine. They really do help me relax and de-stress. I bought markers for my brother, but nice colored pencils for me. It takes time to actually fill them in with different colors, but I don't get bored. They're perfect for a relaxing activity, especially on rainy days.

I was really looking forward to this one, but it fell a little short of my expectations. The book seems very cheaply made. The paper is thin, the drawings are not that great. I normally like Kate's artwork but I only liked a few of the pictures in this book. If you're on the fence about this one, choose something else.

I've bought Jade Summer's Fairy's coloring book and was thrilled with it. This one not nearly as much. There was only three pages in it that I liked. I thought Jade Summer was an artist and did all of the coloring books, my mistake. From now on I'll look for the one who drew the Fairy's coloring book and check the pages more thoroughly. Also, there's incomplete drawings on both coloring books. It looks like it's printing mistakes. Someone needs to proof check better. I took a black pen and drew in the lines that were missing on all the pages that were incomplete.

A beautiful hardcover book. I got this as a gift for my nephew, who is really into sharks. Very well-made book with lots of information in it. Awesome photos and very colorful too! Highly recommend!

This is a rotated book we read every other night. My daughter loves it. Pictures are great and colorful and bright. The facts and info that the give are really wonderful too. I actually became a little intrigued by the Goblin shark that they talk about in here and it's unreal mouth that can detach to snatch up its prey....very cool.

I am happy with this book's quality, but specially, my son is HAPPY with this book, He loves it!!! That makes me happy, it is more than a book for him... He opens his eyes with astonishment and details each photo and text that reads in them.

Many Christians, myself included, are intimidated by the numerous sophisticated arguments levied against Christianity by unbelievers. I have found myself reading the rebuttals of Christian scientists and apologists to arm myself against these many technical objections to the Christian faith. The problem is: I forget their main points within a few days! Craig Biehl greatly simplifies the defense of the faith for the believer. This is not to say that it is simplistic. Far from it. His method focuses upon the infinite excellence of who God is as revealed in Scripture compared with our limited understanding of ourselves and the world he has created. When we do that, the fundamental faith assumptions of the unbeliever are shown to be irrational.

Christian theologian and apologist Craig Biehl presents a compelling and solidly scripture-based approach to defending the faith in his wonderful book, God The Reason.Rather than refuting, one by one, common objections to Biblical theology, Biehl strikes at the root of unbelief by challenging and exposing its unjustified and faulty faith assumptions. In doing so, he also explores at depth the various attributes of God, examining their implications for right thinking, living, unbreakable faith, and defending and sharing the Gospel of Christ.God The Reason is a fantastic resource for Christians looking to both bolster their faith and to firmly and accurately defend that faith when challenged.
