I had the privilege of reading an advance publisher copy of this book, and to say I was blown away was an understatement (I've bought copies for friends and colleagues). Kadi does a great job of capturing the nuances and challenges of being a female leader as well as finding opportunities to develop. While there is a plethora of leadership books that cover being a leader, there are few that go into addressing the challenges of development (i.e. mentorship, navigating the male/female dynamic, opportunities to grow, etc.). This is also not a book on equality and placement to fix the "ratio". Kadi clearly states that we need to mine for gold, not accept "shiny rocks" in the place of true leaders. She covers in detail the importance of mentorship, experience, sponsorship and more. This book was so good that I bought copies for my circle to help them and recognize the work they are doing to develop leaders, both men and women. For anyone looking at improving as a leader and developing leaders, this book needs to be on your shelf, worn and well-read. Highly recommend it!

It is refreshing and encouraging to think about helping to shape the next generation of women who feel called to serve Jesus in the church. The “best practices†shared are thought-provoking and applicable.This is a thoughtful, balanced, well researched book that will encourage dialogue and promote conversations around this topic!! Kadi Cole has written an important book for both women AND men. Regardless of what your church's theological stance is on women in leadership, Kadi has important advice, suggestions, and insight all based on solid research.
Loved this book! As someone who has been involved in various forms of ministry for 20 years, someone is FINALLY addressing what I have been thinking in my head. Female leadership in the church...YES. There are so many obstacles, including theological debates, and Kadi addresses these obstacles so well and without prejudice to what her opinions might be. Researched based and logical, this is such a great book to pass onto your team!
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the title peeked my interest.As I started reading, it was clear that Kadi Cole had done a great amount of research, interviewing thousands of men and women in order to help her gain a wider, more comprehensive perspective.She shares many relatable stories and insights from her years of experience and those of many others. She doesn’t push an agenda, but has suggested ‘best practices’ to help others as they navigate through the opportunities and challenges of women in leadership.A great resource to help initiate discussion, open new, honest conversations and then evaluate and possibly change current practices and more fully embrace how to develop females in leadership.
As the Executive Director of my church, I pre-ordered 5 copies of this book for our executive leadership team to read to help us navigate the best ways to empower and encourage every woman who desires to lead well in our ministry context. I’m also encouraging every woman on our team to purchase this book to help them learn how to avoid the “sticky Floors†in their minds that might limit them. It’s a well researched and thought out book. I loved it.
I thought I would just glance at the table of contents when I got my copy. Instead, I started reading, and I've just finished the final chapter. Reading this book is like reading a synthesis of my own thoughts, experiences, challenges, and questions. Thank you for giving me vocabulary to describe my experience ("girl title", ha!) but also tools for leading a way forward. I'm looking forward to bring able to share this book with others.
I read this book in one day! (I received an advance reader copy from the publisher.) I’ve been serving and working in ministry for over 20 years in many areas. By the time I reached page five, I was standing and cheering!! I cannot wait to share this book with our church’s Senior Team, which I recently joined. Kadi Cole has shared such great practical advice in this book. My mind is reeling with ideas to implement for the women in our church, and she has outlined it all for us. The Lord has encouraged me through Kadi’s writing, and "fanned the flames" of my heart to continue to invest in, raise up, equip, empower and release the women around me, including my three daughters. This is a great resource for any woman in ministry and any church that is desiring to increase leaders and serve teams.
