I'm very computer literate and was looking for a good beginners guide COMPLETE WITH PICTURES AND EXAMPLES for my 86 year old mother in law, who does use a computer, and just got a Kindle Fire Tablet. I thought this "guide" would be along the format of " _______ for Dummies", and have step by step picture examples of how to do things. I searched Amazon by highest reviewed ratings, and this was at the top of the list.For $11.95, this 40+ page "manual" in my opinion is a huge waste of money and would be of very little use to a new user because it contains NO "show me how" pictures. I could write a better manual, complete with step by step pictures of HOW to do something for my mother in law, and that's what I'm going to do, capturing screen shots of what to click on, where to click on, how to click on, etc., which is what a NEW user is going to want, to be Shown how to do something not just told in text how to do something. Maybe I should publish my visual guide of how to do things on a Kindle Fire when I'm done writing it for her. It will certainly be easier for her to understand and learn from that this "guide", and it will be longer than 40 pages. Really disappointed, and this is going back to Amazon today.

Grade 5-8?The late post-Hellenistic story of Cupid (Eros) and Psyche is more fairy tale than myth. It allegorically represents the maturing of the soul (psyche) under the influence of love (eros). Craft retells Apuleius's story (although Apuleius's name nowhere appears) with several minor and two significant changes. When Venus seeks revenge on the too-beautiful Psyche, she instructs her son to make the girl a slave (in various translations) to an "unworthy," "poor and abject," or "ugly and monstrous" love. Craft's charge is to make her love "the most frightening creature in the world," neatly meshing with the description of Cupid as one whose power even the gods fear. In abridging the story, Craft loses some of the tension in the family drama of the sisters' envy, Venus's enmity, and Psyche's efforts (here she is aided by Cupid, while in Apuleius even stones spontaneously help her). When she returns from her last task, with the box containing one day's beauty, Craft misses the connection between sleep and beauty, emphasizing instead the sleep of death. The sensational oil-over-watercolors should guarantee this book wide circulation. Elegantly bordered, the elaborate paintings incorporate elements of neoclassical, 19th-century, and Art Deco design into richly detailed, idealized romantic tableaux. I bought this book for my daughter and read it prior to handing it over to make sure it had appropriate content for her. She's 12. I read it out loud to my husband and was interrupted prior to finishing. He said I couldn't give it to her until we finished because he wanted to hear what happened next!!! So, it's a great story but I feel it might be best for 12 years+. The message is nice and a beautiful love story!!! The pictures are gorgeous!!!

I knew a tiny bit about the Cupid and Psyche myth when I began reading this version. It's a great lesson in trust and patience. Also, another beautifully illustrated book by Craft. I'm terribly excited to own it. I think this book will appeal to readers of all ages. That said, being this is the fairytale version, perhaps I'll dig deeper and read more about this great love.

Absolutely beautiful! My husband and I read to our daughters every night and this book was a perfect addition to our rotation. I also purchased three other books by this author/illustrator that are well loved. Highly recommend!

A lovely retelling of the Greek Myth. The best part are the illustrations. Kinuko Craft is amazing. Any time I can aquire a book illustrated by her, I grab it up. These are books to keep for the next generation. Especially as the next generation may begin to see bookstores disappear as tablet and kindles begin take over the way in which we access literature. I like to be able to hold books and linger over artwork.

Just like in "Pegasus," the story of "Cupid and Psyche" retells the myth of the two lovers in a very accessible manner, which makes it ideal for young children and anyone else who is unfamiliar with Greek mythology. Cupid and Psyche are perfect for each other, but, as is often the case in love stories, they must overcome great trials before they can be together. In a sense, it's by going through the trials that realize just how much they love each other.

Beautiful artwork. Great retelling of the myth. This book and others like it have really sparked my daughters love for mythology.
